Currently on display at the John Wayne Orange County Airport is an exhibit featuring the entries to the American Institute of Architects Orange County Design Competition. The exhibition will run through November 28, 2014.
The AIAOC Design Competition is open to local community colleges with architecture programs. The goal of the competition is to connect future design architects with applicable design scenarios in order to grow their expertise and encourage new and creative approaches to design. Of tremendous benefit to the students is that they receive genuine advice and feedback from professionals in the industry.
The challenge of this year’s competition was to design an urban site in Downtown Riverside as part of the revitalization efforts for the centennial anniversary of the city. This was to be done with sustainable design in mind.
The most exceptional projects from the competition are on display in the Vi Smith Concourse Gallery in Terminal A across from Gates 2 through 5, in Terminal C across from Gates 18 through 21 and in the freestanding display cases across from Gate 14 at the John Wayne Airport.
